2025 harvest

Unfortuntaley this year’s harvest is a short story.

We’d heard that other tree owners in the area were predicting a poor or non existent harvest. We were not immune. When we arrived at the end of September so many of the olives had already fallen from the trees.

The few that were left had fly blight and a virus infection

We concluded it wasn’t worth harvesting the few unaffected olives still on the trees. There weren’t even enough to get to the minimum amount required to process at the mill.

So that was it. No harvest.

Our friends Rob and Helen had booked flights to come and help, as they did last year, but due to family bereavements they couldn’t make it anyway. Nature and life conspired against the harvest this year.

Hopefully a bumper crop next year, if we still own the place…
