2,864 km and 30.5 hours in the car. Our return trip to Arnhem to see Gerben and Jeanne. It was a business trip. Out on Sunday, back on Thursday. Our business was to meet with a sponsor of Colin’s big ride in 2020 from London to Fano, via Arnhem. We also met up with Toob, who owns Buro Toob the marketing company helping us for free, and Marlies from ALS NL. It felt like being back at work, but well worth it.
The day before we prepared with a walk into Arnhem whilst Gerben had work to do for his business. We spotted a couple of things that made us smile:
That evening the four of us prepared for the following day’s business, fuelled in the same way we were 18 months ago when we came up with the idea of a tour from London to Fano to raise money and awareness of MND/ALS.
The meetings went really well. We now have a name for the tour, marketing support and are one signature away from a budget big enough to build a web site, registration system and enough for a support van for the entire tour.
We still have much work to do, but we’ve made great progress. On Thursday 6th June it will be exactly one year before I start. This was more than enough to celebrate over lunch on Wednesday before setting the alarm for 5am for the drive back to Italy.
